Une conférence intitulée « Interdisciplinary Science and the Conservation of Nature » aura lieu le vendredi 2 décembre à 11h30 en ligne. Elle sera animée en anglais par Ignacio PALOMO.
Résumé :
Interdisciplinary science has been discussed at least for three decades now. It is commonly agreed that today’s wicked problems of the Anthropocene require multiple disciplines and their integration to tackle challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. Concepts such as ecosystem services are transitioning from academics to practitioners, and new concepts such as Nature-contributions to People or Nature-based Solutions are receiving increased interest. In this lecture, I will discuss on my previous work with social-ecological systems, ecosystem services, protected areas, nature-based solutions, social equity and transformative change. I will share personal experiences and lessons on how I tried to navigate the connections between social and biophysical sciences to respond to research questions that speak to the conservation of nature.
